Writers like Salvador Dalí, René Magritte, and Max Ernst produced surreal novels, poems, and essays that explored the boundaries of reality and fantasy. It was not limited to the realm of art and literature; it also had a strong political dimension. Many Surrealists were politically active and engaged in leftist and anti-fascist movements. They saw Surrealism as a way to challenge the social and political norms of their time. Surrealism had a profound influence on various art forms, including painting, sculpture, literature, film, and even fashion. Its impact can still be seen in contemporary art and culture, with Surrealist techniques and themes continuing to inspire artists worldwide.
